Furuno Introduces New NavNet Network Sounder Ethernet Network Sounder Turns
Furuno Furuno USA, Inc. introduces the new NavNet Network Sounder. This new Network Sounder has been made specifically for use on the NavNet Ethernet Network. Designed to suit a wide variety of vessels, the new NavNet series of Ethernet networked products allows flexibility to create a variety of bridge configurations, including single, dual and even tri or quad-stations, utilizing an Ethernet Hub. NavNet is completely component based, so if you need to add a sounder, GPS, DGPS or a remote depth display, each component can be added to the network through a single cable and then accessed from any NavNet display. Each unit also has standard NMEA0183 ports that allows it to be connected to other NMEA0183 electronics. The NavNet Network Sounder incorporates extra power and advanced fish finder features that you won't find in any other network system in the industry. This slim-line, waterproof box connects directly to a NavNet display or an Ethernet Hub with a single cable. Once the Network Sounder has been connected, the NavNet display will automatically detect the presence of the Network Sounder. The system features a dual frequency (50/200kHz) 600W or 1kW transceiver that can go to depths of 4,000 feet. Echoes of bottom, structure and fish are presented in multi-level color gradations on the color NavNet displays and multi-level monochrome shading on monochrome NavNet displays. On the color displays, the background colors are selectable from light blue, dark blue, cyan, black and white for extra contrast. Furuno's NavNet Network Sounder offers a variety of useful display modes, including Single Frequency (LF or HF), Dual Frequency (LF and HF), Marker Zoom, Bottom Zoom, Bottom Lock, A-Scope and more. The Marker Zoom display lets you select and enlarge a depth layer of interest on half of the screen. In the Bottom Zoom mode, the Network Sounder automatically tracks the seabed and presents enlarged views of fish on or suspended just off the bottom. There's also an "Auto" mode that makes setting optimum sounding range and receiver sensitivity automatic, allowing for "hands-off" operation when you are maneuvering the boat or fishing. In addition to the various selectable modes, the Network Sounder features audio-visual alarms for preset water depth, fish echoes or water temperature. Another unique feature is the ability to transfer TLL (Target Lat/Lon) information from the sounder screen to the chart plotter screen. This feature allows the user to mark a spot that the sounder has said to be rich in bait or fish on the chart plotter screen. This mark becomes a waypoint on the chart plotter, allowing the user to go back to the same spot with unparalleled accuracy. One of the nicest features of this NavNet Network Sounder is the price. The list price for adding the Network Sounder module is $700. The customer buying the Network Sounder will be saving thousands of dollars, compared to other networks that require the addition of a complete fish finder display to their network. For vessels that are cruising and only need to know depth, they can simply connect a smart sensor to a NavNet display to receive accurate depth readings. Another option is to connect the smart sensor to the Furuno RD30 Remote Depth Display and then feed that information into the NavNet display. |
